It’s officially my last day of work. I’ve been here for three years and leaving is kind of bittersweet. It was my first job out of college and I learned a ton, but I feel I made the right decision to move onto something new. We had a “farewell” party after work last night and it was the perfect way to end my time here. I’m just wrapping up a few things today and then I will officially be done!
After my farewell party last night I met up with a good friend of mine from high school at Grey Dog in the West Village. We each got half soup (chicken tortilla) half salad (cobb) with a glass of pinot noir. Everything was delicious and it was great to catch up! Due to a path delay I didn’t wind up getting up until after 9 so I was in bed shortly after. Tom and I have week night ritual of watching one episode of a show in bed before I pass out and Tom stays up watching TV until 11:30. I don’t know how he functions on so little sleep but no one would appreciate my mood the next day if I got less than 7-8 hours. Good luck to me when I have kids right?
I was up at 6 am to walk Cleo and then got in an Insanity workout. Max Interval Training (which is 60 minutes) is death. I definitely think it’s the most challenging of the Insanity workouts but it feels great when you’ve completed it.
Since I was busy preparing for my departure at my job yesterday I didn’t get a chance to check in and recap my weekend so let’s catch up.
We drove home to my parents’ house on Friday night and Cleo was loving the car ride and her quality time with Hank.
The dogs spent a ton of time outside in the backyard which was a nice change from their normal concrete surroundings.
We ordered Kinchley’s Pizza (the best) and watched the Rangers game with my sister, her boyfriend, Billy, and a few friends. The Rangers won in overtime but I missed the goal because I was cleaning up the dog mess I had stepped in and traipsed all over the living room : |
After the game we watched Bruce Jenner’s interview that we had recorded during the game. I thought he did a great job of explaining his transition in a way that really makes people understand. He received a lot of backlash that it was a publicity stunt but the interview made it clear that he has been struggling with this secret his whole life and I hope his bravery in telling his story will help others who are going through something similar.
On Saturday morning Tom and I got in a workout in my parents’ gym (I did 60 minutes on the bike) and then made our way back to Hoboken with three of my girl friends for my friend Courtney’s birthday celebration. My best friend (and little in my sorority) Dolores just moved back from San Diego last week and I couldn’t be happier to have her back.
Her being back meant we had to celebrate by taking a bunch of selfies.
My sister’s boyfriend, Billy, and me at one of the rooftop bars.
Needless to say, Sunday was spent recovering. Dolores stayed over and we spent the majority of the next day on the couch watching Friends episodes before picking up Jimmy John’s for lunch and dropping her at the train station.
It was a beautiful day so Tom and I decided to take Cleo the the dog park so she could run around.
and now we’re all caught up! I leave for Florida on Thursday morning so tomorrow will be spent running a ton of errands and packing. Any future posts will be coming from my phone so don’t mind the formatting if it turns out being a little funky and if I don’t check in before I leave, have a great rest of your week!
