I don’t have anything to post for you today since I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer last night so dinner was leftovers and soup and my workout this morning was a quick T25 DVD. I’ve seen a to of ‘Day in the Life’ posts going around and figured I’d give an example of what my day typically looks like.
5:40 a.m. – Tom’s alarm goes off. I lay in bed 10-15 more minutes while snuggling with Cleo.
5:55 a.m. – Throw on sweatpants, jacket and a hat and get Cleo ready to go outside (put on her harness and winter vest).
6:00 a.m. – 6:10 a.m. – If Cleo has held it all night she is usually quick to go outside. If it is too cold, windy or loud she will refuse to go. Luckily, she’s been pretty good at going in the morning lately.
6:15 a.m. – Drink a glass of water and make coffee. While it’s brewing, make the bed, unload the dishwasher if it was run the night before and feed Cleo.
6:25 a.m. – Drink coffee while reading daily devotionals and going through my to-do list for the day in my planner.
6:45 a.m. – Get ready for the gym, put Cleo in her crate and walk a few blocks to the gym.
7:00 – 8:00 a.m. – Workout (alternate each day with circuit training and cardio).
8:10 a.m. – Let Cleo out and shower. Cleo stands outside the shower and cries because she doesn’t understand why I’m standing behind a curtain and is convinced I’m trying to hide from her.
8:25 a.m. – Start cooking steel cut oats on the stove. While it cooks, do makeup and get dressed, then eat.
8:45 a.m. – Blow dry hair, set up Cleo’s pen with her bed, water, toys and training pad. Say goodbye to Cleo and grab my pre-packed lunch from the fridge.
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. – Walk to the bus stop, take the bus to the PATH station, then the PATH to NYC and walk 5 blocks to work. This commute can take anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour depending on how quickly the bus comes and whether I make the PATH in time.
10:00 a.m. – Get to work, check emails, attend meetings.
1:00 p.m. – Eat lunch. I went through a stage of packing salads every day and then get really sick of them so I’ve been making brown rice, broccoli and chicken to bring this week. I usually make a huge batch Sunday and then divide it up into tupperware in the fridge to grab before work.
1:15 – 4:00 p.m. – Work, work, work
4:00 p.m. – Snack (usually carrots with hummus)
4:10 – 6:00 p.m. – More work
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Commute home (walk to the PATH, take PATH to Hoboken, catch a bus). My commute home is almost always an hour.
7:00 p.m. – Say hi to Tom and Cleo and start making dinner
7:45 p.m. – Eat dinner with Tom while talking about our days.
8:15 p.m. – Tom washes the dishes while I dry and wipe down the stove and countertops.
8:30 p.m. – We take Cleo for her last walk of the night.
9:00 p.m. – Get in bed and watch a few episodes of Parks and Rec or a creepy ID Discovery show.
10:00 p.m. – I try to go to sleep by 10 but sometimes I get sucked into a show and won’t be asleep until 11.
This sounds like just about the most boring day ever, huh? My weekends are definitely a lot more jam packed with fun activities but after working all day during the week all I crave is downtime! I’ll be sure to share a weekend post to compare in the next week or so.
Have a great day!
