Happy Friday (and almost Valentine’s Day!). I know a lot of couples aren’t into Valentine’s Day but Tom and I have always loved using it as an excuse to go out to a nice dinner. I’ve mentioned it before but we are total homebodies and usually opt for ordering in and watching a movie over going out so it’s nice to go out and get dressed up!
Since my brother’s birthday was yesterday, we’ll be celebrating with a large group of friends on Saturday. While some people looked at it as boycotting Valentine’s Day I love the idea of getting to spend the day with lots of people I love! Since we’ll be spending the day celebrating my brother on Saturday, Tom and I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day tonight instead. We’re going to one of my favorite restaurants and I’m so excited! This weekend should be a good one!
Let’s end the week with our usual Friday Favorites. Friday Favorites is a collection of things I’ve been loving this week and this week happened to bring back a ton of old favorites.
This looks like a mess of food – and it is! I rekindled my love for Whole Foods this week and hit up their salad bar for lunch yesterday. I threw in a bunch of random food including santa fe chicken, salad, chick pea salad, veggies and hummus. It may not look like it but it was delicious! I also picked up two bags of dried mango while I was there and proceeded to finish an entire bag at my desk later in the day. That stuff is dangerous.
I’ve been doing Kayla Itsine’s Bikini Body Guide and am currently on week 17 (there are 24 weeks of workouts). While I’ve been loving the circuits and switching up my routine, I decided to mix in some Insanity this week and forgot how good of a workout it gives me. I was drenched! I’ve decided to do the Insanity Challenge (the calendar that comes with the CDs) after I complete the Kayla Itsine’s BBG.
We’ve only tried two meals so far but we’ve been loving it! Last night we made the pan-roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and maple-glazed carrots and it was delicious! I love maple-glazed carrots and this was my first time making them myself. We have one more meal for this week (whole wheat rigatoni with wild mushrooms and swiss chard) and then our next delivery comes on Tuesday night. Not only is it convenient to have all the measured ingredients shipped to your doorstep but I love that Tom and I use it as a time to bond in the kitchen, catching up on our days while we cook.
I found these while shopping for my brother yesterday and thought this was such a cool idea! (no pun intended). Fill the Cool Shooter mold with water or your favorite juice, freeze, and then pop out four fully-formed frozen shot glasses. You can buy them here.
Peanut Butter and Fruit
I’ve been all about the peanut butter and fruit this week. While I almost always put peanut butter in my smoothies or oatmeal, I’ve been switching things up and putting it on brown rice cakes this week and eating it with a side of fruit. Also bananas and apples with peanut butter has been a recurring theme this week too. Can’t get enough of that PB.
What have you been loving this week?
